| Academic background |
Carlos Mezquita holds a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and completed the Leadership Programme at the Francisco de Vitoria University. In addition, he has been certified by the Spanish Association of Project Management and Engineering (AEIPRO) at the highest internationally recognised level as a project professional.

| Career path |
He has over 30 years of professional experience. He began his career in 1993 in the private sector within the aeronautical industry, both civil and defence. In 2000, he joined Alcatel, managing telecommunications projects in the Transport and Oil & Gas sectors.
Since 2007, he has been working at Thales, where he has held various positions of responsibility, eventually becoming Director of Bids & Projects. In this role, he led the implementation of projects on both conventional and high-speed railway lines.
In early 2024, he was appointed Managing Director of Thales GTS, an entity acquired by Hitachi Rail in June 2024. He currently serves as the highest-ranking executive, leading the signalling and railway telecommunications business across high-speed, conventional rail, commuter, and metro lines in Spain, as well as in other key international markets such as Turkey, Egypt, Greece, and Mexico.
