Main products and services

Manufacture and supply of natural and recycled aggregates (ballast, gravel, sub-base material, etc.), having its own quarry in Santa Maria del Cubillo (Ávila). Construction and maintenance of railway lines (Feve, Metro Bilbao, ETS, ADIF, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) and other Authorities). Construction and maintenance of roads and motorways. Urban development works, supply, sanitation and agglomerates. Building works (housing, nursing homes, car parks, etc.).

Activities by year

Railway Sector: Annual Supply of type 1 ballast (High Speed) for ADIF. Ballast and sub-ballast supply for various high-speed sections for ADIF. Track Maintenance Contracts (ADIF, Euskal Trenbide Sarea, Metro Bilbao), including routine maintenance and emergency interventions, as well as track superstructure works, both new and renewal in all domestic administrations in Spain (ADIF, ADIF ALTA VELOCIDAD, METRO BILBAO, ETS, AUTORIDAD PORTUARIA DE SANTANDER), as well as several private clients.

Machinery and Equipment: Following with the policy of improving the machinery at CYCASA CANTERAS Y CONSTRUCCIONES, S.A., different types of machinery for civil engineering (shovels, trucks, etc.) have been added. Installation of asphalt plant. Implementation, in heavy track machinery for levelling and alignment, of setting-out and track geometry optimisation systems (SMART ALC), as well as a recording system with DRP Recorder.

Innovations

Research, Development, and Technological Innovation

Management of Construction and Demolition Waste (CDW): in March 2026, the Directorate of Environmental Administration of the Basque Government authorized CYCASA to carry out, on a professional basis, waste collection and treatment operations, under authorization code and registration number in the Waste Production and Management Register 16E02/001/26. These wastes, identified by their European Waste Catalogue (EWC) codes, are as follows:

This authorization is in addition to that granted in February 2024, when the Territorial Committee for Planning and the Environment of the Regional Government of Castile and León authorized the scaling-up of activities at the Santa M.ª del Cubillo plant for CDW management, with Environmental Identification Number 050000769 and authorization number for the installations for the management of non-hazardous waste 07G424050000769, allowing for the treatment of 21,000 Tn/year of European Waste List (EWL) Code 170503, with treatment code R0507 for the milling waste, and another 27,000 Tn/year of EWL codes 170101 (concrete), 170504 (earths and stone), and 170508 (railway ballast), with treatment codes R0506, R1203 and R1301.

Said management will allow reducing environmental impacts, increase reserves and the use of natural aggregates by means of adding CDW to the bituminous mixes and granular layers, and integrating the operation within a circular economy model of the EU’s Goals for 2030.

HAZITEK ECO2D4.0 project: “Experimental dimensioning of road infrastructures using strategic waste, and development of a monitoring and simulation ecosystem for the selection of sustainable solutions”. Currently in the data acquisition phase of the pilot test, it has been under development since 2022, it is devoted to the research and development of products for eco-friendly roads, and studies the technical and market feasibility of using different types of waste as secondary aggregates for road surfaces.
The members that make up the group are Befesa (which provides ferrosite as waste), FCC (with bottom ash from the MSW incineration), Tubos Reunidos (with black steel mill slag), Fuchosa (with green smelting sands) and CYCASA (with milling waste).
