Career path |
Leopoldo Maestu, who joined Alstom with the AVE arrival to Spain, has developed his entire professional career in the railway sector, with different managerial responsibilities within the Alstom Group, both nationally and internationally, in the US, Canada and France.
Leopoldo joined the Alstom Group in 1991 as a maintenance engineer in La Sagra (Toledo) Renfe depot, developing the maintenance management system for the first high-speed trains in Spain, becoming Head of the Maintenance Engineering Department for this fleet from 1993 to 1997. Between 1997 and 2003, he moved to Montreal and Washington DC as Technical Director for NeCMSC, the company in charge of the maintenance of Amtrak-owned Acela high-speed trains.
In 2004, he was appointed within the Alstom Group: High-speed trains Services Global Vice-president, based in Paris.
After a decade in international projects, Leopoldo Maestu returned to Spain in 2006 as commercial director for Spain and Portugal, a position that he will compatibilized, from 2014, with the general management of the Services Unit for Spain and Portugal. In April 2020, he was appointed Management Director for Alstom Spain and Portugal.
