| Career path |
He has extensive experience (more than 35 years) in managing both public and private companies. In the last fifteen years, he
has held positions of great responsibility, such as General Manager of Mercalicante, in which he managed to reverse the
financial situation, making the public company profitable again after years of losses.
In November 2015 he became Deputy General Manager of Mercamadrid, where he contributed, through a strategic plan, to
consolidating the platform as an international benchmark. And starting in October 2018, as President of Mercasa, he was
responsible, amongst other things, for relaunching the brand, image and credibility of the public company after its reputational
crisis, as well as implementing the institution´s first strategic plan.
In 2020, he was also responsible for organising food distribution in Spain in the midst of the global crisis caused by the Covid-19
pandemic, turning the Mercasa model and Spain’s 24 “merca” markets into examples of efficient fresh food management.
Since April 2024 he has been the Managing Director of Fundación de los Ferrocarriles Españoles (Spanish Railways
Foundation).
