El 21 de abril de 1992 entró en servicio el primer tren de alta velocidad en España en la línea Madrid
– Sevilla. Además de la infraestructura necesaria para poner en marcha las líneas de alta velocidad, Adif
apostó por una nueva generación de estaciones con una marcada arquitectura vanguardista.
En abril de 2022 se cumplieron treinta años del Ave y ahora la red dispone de más de 4.000 kiló-
metros de vía.
Las primeras estaciones fueron Ciudad Real, Puertollano, Córdoba y Sevilla Santa Justa en esa pri-
mera línea pionera en nuestro país. Desde entonces y hasta ahora se han inaugurado líneas de alta ve-
locidad por toda España con sus estaciones o terminales adaptadas para recibir a esos trenes, incluso
desde mayo de 2021 recibir no solo a los de Renfe sino a los de Ouigo e iryo.
Verdaderos ejemplos de esa citada arquitectura vanguardista pueden ser las terminales de Ante-
quera – Santa Ana, Zaragoza Delicias o Guadalajara Yebes. En 2022, la revista Vía Libre reservó un espacio
para estas catedrales ferroviarias que ha durado hasta mediados de este año 2023.
Spain’s first high-speed train started operating on April 21st, 1992, on the Madrid–Seville line. In
addition to the infrastructure required to set high-speed lines in motion, Adif committed itself to a new
generation of stations featuring striking avant-garde architecture.
The AVE high-speed train celebrated its thirtieth anniversary in April 2022, with the network now
covering more than 4,000 km of tracks.
The first stations were Ciudad Real, Puertollano, Cordoba, and Seville–Santa Justa on that first
ground-breaking line in our country. From then down to the present, high-speed lines have been ope-
ned throughout Spain, featuring stations or terminuses adapted to receive such trains, including, starting
from May 2021, not only Renfe’s trains but also those of Ouigo and Iryo.
Excellent examples of the aforementioned avant-garde architecture are the terminuses of Ante-
quera–Santa Ana, Zaragoza–Delicias, or Guadalajara–Yebes. In 2022, the Vía Libre journal devoted a space
to these railway cathedrals that has continued to mid-2023.
